Nah that would get me banned (again)

Player reviews would be fun as hell, but again, I'd get banned for excessive use of the big N.

I'm not quite sure about GvH but I think part of the reason people play AoW is ranking up, saving up for weapons and mechs, and so forth. Slight RPG elements can strongly increase the addictiveness of most games among the general public.

If someone makes an online Doom or Heretic/Hexen RPG, it will probably be played quite a bit. Then again, I'm sure that will receive a lot of hate as well.

Which gameplay elements do you guys think cause popular mods to be so popular?

Metal, here's just my 2 cents:

People don't hate what's popular, people don't really like it when something's popular and pretty flawed. I know you're working your hard to get those bugs away, but right now from my eyes AOW2 is still flawed. I know people will always play it, because it's the most popular thing on Skulltag and all, but I see no reason to hate HnS because that's actually BUG'FREE' (I used ' because there's no gamebreaking bugs whatsoever). The reason people hate AOW2 is because it actually is flawed in some aspects, i.e. it has quite some gamebreaking bugs and it's balance isn't really the best. But unfortunately most kids in this community don't really see those flaws, but I can think why. It's addictive. When Hns becomes popular, watch, there'll be no-one who hates it, because there's a reason for that. Hns actually is worked out really well, it's balance is perfect, the code isn't a giant mess, the maps look awesome AND play awesome, and the classes are intuitive and all that. Of course there'll always be the hardcore AOW2 junkies who will probably hate Hns because it's not aow2.

The same goes for Realguns 2. The rips are beyond terrible, the weapons don't work out well, the classes are WAY too slow to even work in Doom, the monsters are just the same old recycled R667 monsters again, it's WAY too big for just some code, sprites and sounds, the list goes on. Hence why it got such a low score in the previous SSR.

That's just my opinion...

Heehee. In Metroid Prime 1 and 2, i was actually able to exploit some things in order to get to areas that i wasn't supposed to get to yet. (Such as using well timed ball-bombs in order to jump to areas that would normally require double-jump first.)

But yeah I somewhat agree. RPG elements can make a game feel more immersive and enjoyable.

Yet I believe that the whole "getting better as you play more" thing that you said actually applies to stock Skulltag itself, with no mods required. I mean think about it; the more and more you play, the better you get in terms of aim, movement, and wit. This is especially true in Duels and CTF. :P
