Head Shots or Maybe Even V.A.T.S

Before I say anything,

Moderators please feel free to close this as soon as your get done reading the first paragraph I just thought it wouldw bhe cool i actually got the inspirattion for the mod form a dream I had.

Honestly I dont expect this feature to be added but if it was it would be epic :D . It seems to be beyond skulltag, or zdoom, or gzdoom its probalby more of a port suggestion or mod suggestion. I was thinking about head shots simple head shots (I think Skulltag could do that with a bit of work) or if you wanted super ludicrisly advanced then how 'bout something like Fallout 3 V.A.T.S. but with out the rediculous amounts of gore. Something like this

Oh and with out rag doll physics (Oh now theres a feature idea) (I believe V.A.T.S is far beyond Skulltag)

Well maybe in a wad editor like Slumped modders could drag boxes over certain parts of the sprites named different things like Head1, Chest1, Arm1 ect.... Or take the 3D boxes like in Doom Builder and create smaller boxes in them to make limbs

And in the players prospective:
online time would advance normally and in single player he or she would have an option for time to freeze or not.
theres no need for the slow mo camera

When they hit an arm then it could delay there attack for like a quarter of a second (maybe just force them to go in to thier pain state)

If they are hit in the leg they maybe could just stop moving for a second

Chest: nothing I guess

Head: TONS of extra damage

I dont necisarliy think it could be useful just uber fun wich gives the player the ability to lay down some pwnage.

And if something like V.A.T.S could not be added then maybe just head shots.

Oh god, please no...Don't worry, I'll try to keep everyone else from beheading you :(



The point is, actors are currently handled as individual entities so things like headshots are only possible if enemies/players are made with several actors (one for each body part), it's just that the idea of a VATS system wouldn't work at all in Doom.

Doable with extremely complex decorate and ACS; However, not practical.

Besides, this is doom.

Interesting but well, it would be pretty hard to hit certain spots. I can't imagine trying to headshot someone in Doom.

heh this is the ugliest idea I've ever read for Doom. Headshots are sweet in games like halo, CS, COD, hell, even doom 3 but doom 1-2? Really?

Dude, Shrimp, have you ever heard of Pwads?

I totally disagree on this. It's useless because you'll have a hard time hitting a person running 500 miles per hour with a pin-point precision weapon straight on the head.

Vats is for rpg games not FPS dont take this personally but this is wat would happen " oh shit a imp tim to vats on his ass *vat open * uh where should i shoot um head oh crap i missed *doomguy dies or while your opening vats the monsters would shoot you maybe if there was a tag on the head that would notice when bullets hit the tag around the head then a message might come up B00m H34DSH0T But i recomend this would be better in a pwad

As a stock feature, it destroys the original feel of Doom. As a project, it has a moderately large amount of potential.

Doom is too fast paced for headshots to be a significant part of gameplay outside of AOW.
